Gift Plan: Charitable Remainder Unitrust

When Mary Ann Di Paola realized that Christendom promoted truth, she wanted to be a part of the College’s mission.

Motivated to aid students in need of financial help, Mary Ann established a $100,000 charitable remainder unitrust in memory of her late sister, Delores Di Paola, and close friend, Roseanne Cole, who both believed in the value of Catholic higher education and promoting scholarship.

This gift plan presented the opportunity for Mary Ann to achieve both of her goals: promote education and honor the memory of her sister and friend.

“I knew my sister had wanted to establish something that would be lasting and encourage growth of the school,” says Mary Ann. “Not just a couple of scholarships for students, but something the school could invest in some way and that could eventually become part of its endowment—to have a long-lasting impact.”

A charitable remainder unitrust enabled Mary Ann to make the largest possible gift to the College while providing her with immediate income, capital-gain tax savings, and income for life.

“I think Christendom is a force,” shares Mary Ann. “I can see it when I read about who your graduation speakers are, and I can see that you are still what I want you to be. You are courageous.” Mary Ann’s unitrust strengthens Christendom’s permanent student aid endowment and contributes to her own charitable legacy.
